Enjoy AAA Travel Services to Book Air and Hotels
If you are a driver you cannot be unfamiliar with AAA which provides emergency road services to its members. But what you may not know is that besides those emergency roadside assistance, AAA also offers many services that are helpful for your travel planning, such as book air, hotels and car rentals, get travel directions, etc.
International Travel AAA Helps Overview
Being a member of AAA is really helpful when you need emergency roadside assistance, the same is true for international members traveling to the United States. Before traveling abroad, AAA members are recommended to obtain an International Drivers Permit (IDP) which is accepted and honored in more than 150 countries, since not every country recognizes U.S. driver’s licenses. The IDP functions as an official translation of a U.S. driver’s license into 10 foreign languages.
If you want to get an IDP, you can:
- Visit AAA website (See Reference Link 1), enter your zip code. AAA membership is not a must to get an IDP, but if you are a member, you will receive a discount. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid U.S. license.
- Download the application From AAA website and fill it out. Prepare two passport-size photos to submit with the application.
- Go to AAA office with your application, driver’s licence, and photos. You will have to pay some application fees. Generally, you will get your IDP the same day if you are well prepared.
You can take advantage of AAA to book air, hotels, and car rentals; find cruises and discount travel; get travel directions, and more. You can view services available to AAA members when traveling to other countries at AAA Exchange (See Reference Link 2).
You can also enjoy discounts from Global Show Your Card & Save Program at attractions, museums, hotels, etc) when traveling abroad. You can visit AAA website and find the “Search for Savings” to see where you can get discounts.
Remember to ensure your current, valid AAA membership card with you at all times when traveling abroad to enjoy AAA services. If you need expanded benefits when traveling in other countries, you can check with your local AAA branch office about upgrading to Premier membership.
